Day 12, st Augustines
Today was sight seeing in St Augustines. Like a lot of historic cities in America they have this wonderful transport system.. A bus picks you up at the location you are staying at and transports you down town where they then have a trolley system, which is a guided tour with the driver doing the narration. One can then see the city by getting on and off the trolley at the various points of interest.
We found this a very interesting city with beautiful old architecture. Here is a little bit of its history.
Nearly 450 years separate its past from its present, but nowhere is history more celebrated than in St. Augustine. From the coquina walls of its forts and city gates to its brick-lined streets and lush, green park at the Fountain of Youth, St. Augustine’s storied collection of homes, museums and historic sites pay tribute to all who influenced it. In 2015, come celebrate our birthday as the oldest continuously occupied European settlement in North America.
Tomorrow, weather permitting, we will be moving up to Hilton Head.
